IgA nephropathy (IgAN) differentiation from other glomerular diseases like lupus nephritis or membranous nephropathy involves a combination of clinical evaluation, laboratory tests, and renal biopsy. Clinicians assess patient history, symptoms, and laboratory findings, including serum creatinine, complement levels, and serological markers. A definitive diagnosis often requires a renal biopsy, where immunofluorescence microscopy reveals mesangial IgA deposits, a hallmark of IgAN.
