She indicated one of the most innovative options available is the light-adjustable lens, which allows post-surgical customization over multiple visits. While offering precise visual outcomes, Khandelwal emphasized the need for patient commitment due to the time-intensive nature of adjustments. This option could be particularly beneficial for those uncertain about monovision, as it allows for refinements after surgery.

Khandelwal also highlighted the evolving role of ocular surface disease management in optimizing cataract surgery outcomes. With an increasing number of pharmaceutical treatments—ranging from anti-inflammatory drops to tear stimulators—the field is experiencing rapid expansion. She noted that understanding how to integrate these treatments effectively will be a key focus in ophthalmology throughout the year.
